By November 2019, Mansfield State High School will have a new learning centre in its premises as construction for the planned three-storey complex has begun. The site should be ready for students to use by the 2020 school year.
Member for Mansfield Corrine McMillan and Education Minister Grace Grace confirmed the start of construction in a statement. Ms McMillan said that this a fulfillment of their promise during 2017 to prioritise the rebuilding of the state school.
The centre will comprise 12 general learning areas and four flexible areas, as well as two work areas for staff offices. The building will also feature change rooms and disability-access amenities, which has provisions for improvement if needed in the future.
The new site will complement the recently completed science centre, which will already be used once school opens this February. Other constructions are also taking place at the Mansfield campus. Block F is being repurposed as a music centre and a new multipurpose hall for sports activities, kiosk and storage will also be built.

The projects are part of Palaszczuk Government’s 2020 Ready program to improve secondary schools in the Queensland state. The government has set aside $250 million to complete these goals.
Mansfield State High School is projected to have at least 3,000 enrollees in 2020. Principal Karen Tanks said that the school community is looking forward to using these facilities to deliver quality education and cater to the different needs of the students.
Kane Constructions has been hired to build the new structures, thus opening more full-time job opportunities for the locals.
